Hot on the heels of 'Batucada-The Sound of The Favelas' comes 'Brazilian Explosion', another album of infectious beats and rib rattling,relentless percussion. Like it's predecessor the new release successfully appeals to the Jazz, House/Techno & World Music fraternities, but this time the music of Bosco d'Olivera and Oli Albergaria Savill's percussion group Arakatuba has been taken one step further. Their Batucada grooves have been remixed by Kenny Dope, Ballistic Brothers, Box Saga, Fila Brazilia, Soul Generation & Faze Action, all of whom have created tracks which are eclectic and intriguing, successfully fusing the two styles of music.

Faze Action kick off, setting deep Batucada rhythms against a heavy swirling psychedelic backdrop, after which weird house exponent Box Saga delivers Mancini style stabs over a big bass in a soundtrack homage. Meanwhile Soul Generation give their soulful drum & bass outing a crisp Latin edge. The Ballistic Brother's mix has been previously aired as a single, picking up glowing reviews in the press and big exposure at Notting Hill Carnival with its raw Brazilian edge. Fila Brazila also had a mix on the single but the version on the album differs here with the use of a live bass.

In addition Arakatuba collaborate with vocalist Liliana from Necrogan on a beautiful samba duet and with kit drummer Tristan Banks, whose beats fuse the authentic Batu sound with drum & bass licks. These four tracks lend a more traditional sound to the album. Finally we also offer some beats and breaks, featuring the complete range of Batucada instrumentation, DJ friendly and easy to sample; check the 'Brazilian Explosion' for the real sound of Batucada and some big club sounds.
