DOIS COMPILATION

In 2003 Disorient celebrated it’s five-year anniversary with the best of collection ‘Ichi

After it’s success we have its follow up a selection of Japanese-related future classics, exclusive joints and sort after gems in the form of ‘Dois’ (Two in Portuguese).

All tracks have either no release or limited Japan-only exposure and we feel justice to give this music the exposure it deserves. Beginning our path as a up-tempo party and swinging a firm left into broken mind space with a animate climax. Artwork by our design tradesman ‘Kai Clements’ from the ‘Call of Wild’ fashion label.

The Fix -

Lonesome Echo Productions featuring Byron Stingily - ‘Sweet Dream’ (BLAZE shrine mix) EXCLUSIVE - Choice cut of the LEP album of 2003 gets the remix treatment from the New Jersey kings of house Blaze. With this up-tempo exclusive they deliver one of their trademark funky bass lines to accompany the Chicago legend Byron Stingily falsetto voice, head straight to the dance floor.

Kenny Bobien - Dance For Life (Little Big Bee’s Latin Breakdown). Golden tonsils of blessed Kenny Bobien gets the remix via Tokyo from Flower Records mainman ‘Little Big Bee ‘ who bring’s a full latin ensemble to the affair for a full on barrio breakdown with a montuno flavour.

Monday Michiru - Cruel Too Be Kind ( Basement Jaxx Late Night Dub) Tokyo’s finest diva Monday Michiru , daughter of jazz saxophonist Charlie Mariano and at the centre of the ‘Ashitdo Jazzu ‘ movement of the mid nineties and musical chameleon gets twisted up in a classic Jaxx fashion. Doing what they do best bouncing bass line and a smoking atmosphere.

Jepthe Guillaume - Kokoro. Haiti’s favourite ambassador pays homage to his motherland via Tokyo’s Rambling productions project to raise awareness of the environmental issues with the launch of the Japanese backed banana paper from Haiti helping to protect the natural rain forest.

Monday Michiru - Chasing After The Sun (I.G Cultures Banda Black Lero rework)

Ever evolving and constantly changing Monday teams up with West London head and NSM leader I.G Culture to produce the broken beat Opus ‘Chasing After The Sun’. Only ever available on a limited promo 12” back in 2001 in Japan. Has had collectors and and DJ’s eagerly trying to track it down ever since.

Jazztronik - Samurai. West London to Tokyo and back again via Ryota Nozaki’s Jazztronik, it’s been in every quality Dj’s box since it’s Japanese release via Yoshihiro Okino’s Especial records recently.Tough beats, big keyboard arrangement and one of the main reasons he has a new album coming on Disorient this summer!

Calm - Sketch On A Banana Paper. By far one of the most accomplished and interesting producers out of the new wave of Japanese Music. Calm adds a stripped down raw, early house sound into the mix. Effervescent of a mid eighties Mr Fingers groove and just as addictive.

KeNsEi, GoRo , Knoto - LeOgAn Dub. Also for Ramblings Banana Paper campaign Tokyo DJ KeNsEi adds his distinctive leftfield touches while GoRo opts for playing the Japanese thumb piano with chopsticks! A seductive mellow groove with an ambient twist with a backdrop of the rain forest.

Terre Thaemlitz presents Social Material - Class. We close with Terre Thaemlitz aka DJ Sprinkles . Kawasaki’s cross-dressing love god and main man of Japans most exotic electronic output ‘Comatonse records’.

He adds his twisted up jazz techno opera ‘Social Material ‘ riding on a heavy Detroit until it slits in half when our keyboard virtuoso goes into fagjazz mode and lets his feeling known.
