FOR THE LOVE OF MONEY - DISCO DUB BAND

The third outing on disorient and the first in the Spaced Out series, this collection of remixes of For the Love of Money by the Disco Dub Band sets the pace for the next two releases.

Formed for one session the reggae outfit Disco Dub Band cut a seminal slice of dance history in 1975. Recorded in half an hour this group filled their bass drums with concrete to create that heavy bass rolling sound. Using a ricken backer base they were able to reinterpret the O'Jays philly classic and give it a dub / funk edge. The producer Mike Doraine was one of the first UK reggae producers to experiment with the dub sound embellishing the drums with a deep backbeat roar. The original version of this track has been in constant demand since its release. Late in the 80's it became a rare groove anthem and is still dropped in today's clubs.

The original, included here, is accompanied by three mixes. First up is Toshiyuki Goto, who is part of the Disorient clan in Japan and well qualified to mix this track having worked alongside Francois Kervorkian for many years. A deep subtle mix that will appeal to the house crowd. Underdog takes the track to new realms, extracting the jazz elements and twisting them up and dropping a serious amount of moog action. Harvey meanwhile strengthens the whole track giving it a hard funk edge that will rip up dancefloors across the globe.

Serious dub funk grooves for disco hoppers.
