Remember My Song
(MRBCD 011 / MRBLP011)
"I Got The"
(as used by Jay Z, Eminem and the Wu Tang Clan)
At last the most in-demand break beat album of this year is available from the Abbey Road vaults. A £300 album for the price of a ticket to Brighton Fishing Museum. Labi Siffre albums have been consistently in demand on the Tokyo and London dancefloors, but it wasn't till the Wu Tang Clan used it on their latest album that the raincoats came out hunting for this his most elusive work. They seek him here they seek him there - that damn elusive Vulture. Wu Tang tore up the strings and drum breaks on the opening track I Got The and now Jay Z is set to dismember the track in a more downlow way.
In the Soul-jazz scene Gilles Peterson had started playing the Vulture from the LP , and this soon became his most requested rare bit. The opening string section leading to a hard rock step has fired up many a jazz funk night.
Appealing to the hip hop and soul jazz buyers amongst you. Remastered and now available from Mr Bongo on CD & LP. Licenced from EMI UK.
