ATMOSFEAR

The sound clash of the 90's Harsleden Co-Op meets the mean streets of New York. Take the most influential instrumental dance track ever made in the UK and add the toughest US production team and you've got the dogs corjones.

The original track recorded in 1979 sold 100,000 copies. Ask any DJ in any field of dance music and they would put this tune in their top 10. At present it is the most sampled track ever released by a UK group.

Ever since Louis Vega first heard the track at the Paradise Garage he has dreamt of creating a new version. Having tracked down the original master tapes for the Spaced Out album we decided to set up some mixes, it just so happended that we heard of Louie's dream and Masters at Work immediately sprung to mind as the ideal team to modernise such a classic.

Kenny & Louie picked some of the key players from the Nuyorican album to give the new production it's hard edge. Lusito Quintero ace percussionist wacked the congas to give the percussion a solid feel on the Lunar Beats. Gene Perez ripped his hands up beating the fenderbass to improvise the original bass lines on the lunar mix with a Cream style break. Louie guests on the Juno to give the first version Dubbed in Space that Wah Wah feel, this is a real deep house hummer. Whereas Alfred ,from the old skool collective the Latin Rascals, delivers a stripped down breakbeat vocal trip.

MIXMAG UPDATE 5/5 ESSENTIAL

SPACED OUT CD - SUSHI04 - Spaced Out (a galactic mission through 70/80's dub funk disco) includes Lunar mix part 1 and Dubbed in space version 3.
