S.R.SMOOTHEY / CRUE-L GRAND ORCHESTRA

Our double A side killer is an a surprise exclusive "Inside Of You" from SR Smoothy, a sumptuous tune featuring the vocals of 19 year old Ria. Also in the wake of the highly acclaimed "Showa 64" album comes an in-demand single, cut off the same album in a club friendly format - Crue-l Grand Orchestra's "Time And Days" respectfully recrafted by Harvey.

Produced by Shin Hashimoto (composer, pianist and drummer), SR Smoothy's second single has hit the right nerve just above the temple. Remixed by acupuncturist Shuya Okino of Kyoto Jazz massive & Mondo Grosso fame, with a little help from his engineer friend. The remix is a mellow jazz-soul dancer with a nod to Kyoto Jazz as well as a hint of Mondo Grosso.

Crue-l Grand Orchestra is Kenji Takemi (owner and producer of Crue-l Records), a few other blokes and a string section. Inspired by the 70's disco era, Takemi remixes his own compositions in 4 to the floor dub or true disco style. Takemi's blissful Japanese symphonic soul is based on the same principles as the "Salsoul Orchestra" in the 70's and This Mortal Coil from the independent 4AD label of the 80's.

Time and Days is from The Crue-l Grand Orchestra's second album (featuring Ellie from Love Tambourines, Miyuki from Port Of Notes and the legendary Philip Ramirez). This cut is our favourite from the album, respectfully remixed by Mr Harvey himself. Soulful strings, a swinging beat and all the elements of a true Garage Classic. Could have been made 20 years ago if it weren't for the fat beats. For those who prefer Cafe Del Mar than bang bang at Cream this is too good to miss, and we nearly did miss this one.
