SOCIAL AND MEDIA BACKGROUND
As a musician and engineer he has recorded with Arthur Baker, Faze Action, Dusty Springfield and The Harlem Gospel Singers to name a few from his 15 year career. Elemental is a blend of exclusive nu Latin remixes and original material mixed to give the feel of one artists work. "The title Elemental came from the way I create music" says Ben "I always can see the finished track as soon as I start work on it. This doesn't always comprise of the finished chord structure or top line, but as shapes structures or elements. In my mind is this freakish structure. Some parts recognizable as beats or notes but other parts are in some strange sculptural form just waiting to be translated in the studio. The end result must always have a balance the four elements earth air wind and fire is the best way to perceive this balance."
ABOUT THE MUSIC
Elemental features some of the finest Sao Benitez Remixes including River Ocean 'Love & Happiness' originally produced by Masters at Work featuring India The Nuyorican Soul vocalist.
Los Amigos Fandango features Galliano's vocalist Valerie Etienne. With a stirling remix of Gilberto Gils summertime anthem "Toda Meina Baiana" Bukky Leo, legendary saxophonist from Fela Kuti's band, keeps the afrobeat rhythm straight out of Lagos. Also features original material such as 'Peace and Love'. After remixing some of last Summers biggest Ibiza anthems such as River Ocean: Love and Happiness, Samantha Mumba's Lately, Sao Benitez, gives us his rendition of Donna Summer's disco classic State of independence. Stripping off the Vangelis original production Benitez fuses Harlem gospel vocals over trademark batu beats. Whilst DJing in Dakar, Benitez tapes Senegalese legend Mola Sylla giving an afro twist to the musical melting pot. The icing on the cake is the bonus video clip of Nuyorican latin greats Ray Barretto, and the fania Alstars dancing and prancing to the Cuban trumpeter cult dancefloor stomper: "Rompe Cocorico".
