Celebrating 25 years of Mr Bongo: Ebo Taylor

Thanks to the number of fantastic releases and artists on the label, we are continuing our 25th anniversary celebrations into 2015.

Today we look back at two re-issue albums from the legendary musician Ebo Taylor

Born in 1936, Ebo Taylor is regarded as one of the most influential and important figures in Ghanian 'highlife' music. Ebo combined jazz, funk, Afro and highlife rhythms and influences to create a full and unique sound. His recording career spans over six decades and he still enjoys a very busy touring schedule today, boasting one of the tightest bands around.

Taylor's 'Black Star High Life Band' toured extensively during the 1960's and led to collaborations with Fela Kuti whilst touring the UK. He also produced albums for C.K. Mann, Pat Thomas and many others.

We reissued Ebo's highly sought after albums, 'Ebo Taylor' and 'Conflict' that he wrote and recorded with Uhuru Yenzu:
