Thanks to the number of fantastic releases and artists on the label, we are continuing our 25th anniversary celebrations into 2015.
Today we look back at one of our favourite releases from 2014, Hareton Salvanini's 'Hareton & Meta' EP.
It's always a treat for us to discover something from the 'golden era' of Brazilian music that we didn't know about. Even more so when it's of the quality we are talking about here. 'KM110' on particular - the first track on this 4-track, 7" EP - is a masterpiece of psychedelic samba, fusing strings, soaring vocals and drums.
The Mr Bongo release began with a tip off from Floating Points, followed by frenzied digging / researching, and the joyful receipt of a mysterious package posted from Brazil.
The cover art is as exceptional as the record itself. Designed by Wagner, the famed Brazilian surrealist painter of the 70s and 80s, the sleeve is visually arresting with its eye-popping fluorescent psychedelic art perfectly encapsulating the era and movement within which it was conceived.
You can order the record from us here.
'KM110' features on our 25 Years Of Mr Bongo compilation 2-CD.
