Soul Jazz Films premier Mirror To The Soul in London tomorrow
Mirror to the Soul is a new documentary made up entirely from archive British Pathé newsreels and footage of the Caribbean and its diaspora filmed between 1922-1970. The film allows the viewer to see many aspects of Caribbean identity and life. At the same time it reveals how a British film company shaped this identity and presented it to the outside world. Consequently it tells us as much about British society and its own identity.
The film is directed by Soul Jazz founder Stuart Baker and screens at the BFI in London tomorrow evening.
