Lula Côrtes & Zé Ramalho - Paêbirú Special Edition

December 15, 2011

It's been a long time in the making, but it's finally here - the new 2 x LP Special Edition, repressed to match the original, the best pressing ever.  We've had a lot of feedback from our customers since our last, now out-of-print pressing, so the new record has been reproduced as closely as possible to the super-rare 1975/6 Rozenblit pressing.  It started with Brazilian record dealer, Cleiton Ferreira, kindly providing us with super high-quality scans of an original copy.

From these, we created the separations for lithographic printing, including retouching and separating the 8 page booklet. Like the original, this is stapled directly into the spine (though this time we've used a black staple to keep things tidy).  This booklet is a new addition from our previous pressing, and asked for by many of our Brazilian customers.  We've also (by request) not included any Mr Bongo branding, or additional copy, all of which is included on the OBI, which comes off as you peel off the shrink-wrapping. To ensure the best possible sound, we sourced and remastered the original 4" tapes from the Rozenblit archive in Recife, Pernambuco.

We've also spent a lot of time on the finish of the gatefold record. As per the original, the outside of the gatefold is a gloss finish (which also adds durability to the sleeve), the inside is matt sealed. A bright white card makes the cover image print nice and punchy; the booklet has been printed on an uncoated off-white paper, to give a slightly aged feeling. It also smells pretty nice, or is that going too far..?  The labels are also revised from our previous pressing, (strangely A/B dated 1975, C/D dated 1976...) are also created from the scans Cleiton provided.
