An evolution of her radio show, event series and Bandcamp community under the same name, this compilation plots a \u003cstrong\u003eglobe-spanning day into night voyage\u003c\/strong\u003e across 16 tracks, from artists, countries and scenes that have \u003cstrong\u003eshaped Jamz’ musical worldview\u003c\/strong\u003e. Each track, many of which are \u003cstrong\u003eexclusive to this comp\u003c\/strong\u003e, tells a story of \u003cstrong\u003eheritage and roots\u003c\/strong\u003e, whilst\u003cstrong\u003e pushing boundaries and pioneering new sounds\u003c\/strong\u003e in their respective regions. From the Réunion Island to Latin America, East Africa to the Caribbean and Pacific, it’s a \u003cstrong\u003e24-hour cycle moving from downtempo to dancefloor.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBrought to life through radio and live events, the concept of Dance Around The World began in the summer of 2025 but has ultimately been \u003cstrong\u003ea part of Jamz’ journey in music since the beginning\u003c\/strong\u003e. At the centre of it is her 15-year career as radio presenter - her tastes evolving from the early days on Reprezent Radio, to a 1Xtra residency and now a Saturday daytime show on\u003cstrong\u003e BBC 6Music\u003c\/strong\u003e. There has always been a desire to highlight music from \u003cstrong\u003eunderrepresented scenes to new audiences.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFar removed from the algorithmic hands of AI, each scene, each artist is one that \u003cstrong\u003eJamz has a personal connection to\u003c\/strong\u003e. Split across two sides, marking two interconnected moods, the Day side features \u003cstrong\u003esun-soaked sounds\u003c\/strong\u003e \u003cstrong\u003erooted in activism, storytelling and heritage\u003c\/strong\u003e. Bringing together\u003cstrong\u003e Equiknoxx\u003c\/strong\u003e founder \u003cstrong\u003eGavsborg \u003c\/strong\u003eand dub educator, \u003cstrong\u003eRiddim Writer\u003c\/strong\u003e, groundsound’s rhythmic yet deeply powerful track ‘Bittersweet’ kicks things off. It sets the scene and intention for the compilation whilst starting a percussive thread that runs through every track - the drums pattern an insight into the song’s origins. Elsewhere, the all-female Maloya group \u003cstrong\u003eSIMANGAVOLE \u003c\/strong\u003ecollaborate with \u003cstrong\u003eSOA RAVELO\u003c\/strong\u003e for a hypnotic, communal song that hits the spirit. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMoving through the Day you’ll find a love letter to the sounds of Cape Town from London-based, South African DJ and producer \u003cstrong\u003eEsa Williams\u003c\/strong\u003e, beats-heavy, garage rock courtesy of Rio’s \u003cstrong\u003eOruã\u003c\/strong\u003e, and a fusion of traditional Guadeloupean grooves with contemporary jazz and hip hop via \u003cstrong\u003eCélia Wa\u003c\/strong\u003e. Venturing out to Tumaco on the Pacific side of Colombia, \u003cstrong\u003eVerito Asprilla\u003c\/strong\u003e serves up a future-facing, reggaeton heater, ‘Quiero Ser Buena’. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNight falls, the rhythms get rowdier the basslines get heavier. \u003cstrong\u003eJako Maron\u003c\/strong\u003e’s electronic remix blends his Réunion Island roots with a chugging synth soundscape.\u003cstrong\u003e Jus Now\u003c\/strong\u003e, the duo of Trinidadian percussionist \u003cstrong\u003eKeshav\u003c\/strong\u003e and UK producer \u003cstrong\u003eSam Interfac\u003c\/strong\u003ee, showcase their club-driven global sound melding UK bass influences with a Caribbean drum-heavy flavour. Sam then joins \u003cstrong\u003eJamz\u003c\/strong\u003e for ‘Tan Toddy’ a fierce dancehall production seen through the lens of UK bashment, with \u003cstrong\u003eLateena \u003c\/strong\u003eon the mic and \u003cstrong\u003eMoses Boyd\u003c\/strong\u003e on the drums. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e‘Sin Africa’ is another highlight and one Jamz was trusted to \u003cstrong\u003eA\u0026amp;R.\u003c\/strong\u003e \u003cstrong\u003eBrenda\u003c\/strong\u003e’s pumping, heads-down Latin club sound marrying with a deeper message to \u003cstrong\u003eDiva Cruz\u003c\/strong\u003e’s lyrics. This thread permeates many of the tracks. “Almost everybody on this compilation has been \u003cstrong\u003etouched or altered\u003c\/strong\u003e \u003cstrong\u003ein some ways by colonisation\u003c\/strong\u003e. We choose joy and we choose to celebrate what we have and what we've done, but we can't ignore that there has been a colonised existence”, Jamz mentions. It’s a theme that reverberates through \u003cstrong\u003eMokotron’s poignant closing track \u003c\/strong\u003ethat rounds off the release.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMore than a compilation, this is a \u003cstrong\u003esonic celebration connecting cultures, scenes and perspectives\u003c\/strong\u003e.
