Our staff pick this week comes from one of the longest standing members of the Mr Bongo crew, Lady Jane! Jane used to visit the original Mr Bongo shop as a hip-hop fan in the early 2000's. The soundtrack to my summer. I'm loving this new album from the Manchester Duo, Konny Kon and Tyler Daley, aka Children of Zeus. Such a rich, heady mix of new soul, 90s hip hop beats, jazz and R'n'B. Released in July on the excellent First Word Records, every track tells a sincere story and the production is incredible, reminiscent of Slum Village. Standout track for me is ’Slow Down', reminding us to take life a bit easier. It’s super-soulful but with a killer beat.
