Bazeado was formed by Brazilian soap opera star Pedro Martins in 1999. Residing in Brighton, UK, the five-piece ensemble take traditional Brazilian rhythms like Baiao, Samba and Batucada to create a dynamic vision of the future of Brazilian music. All Bazeado songs are original compositions and the bands musicians have been garnered from such reputable outfits as Cubana Bop, Bah Samba and Carnival Collective.
Hailing from Sao Paulo, singer, guitarist and percussionist, Martins started his musical career as a Som Livre artist. Like Pedro's present day heroes Gilberto Gil and Lenine, he draws on the classic and often forgotten traditional Brazilian rhythms such as Maracatu and Baiao used by masters like Jackson Do Pandeiro and Luiz Gonzaga.
Martin's musical journey has taken him throughout Europe: he formed bands in Denmark and Belgium while in France he worked with Oba-Brasil. Since moving to England he has recorded with Da Lata, on songs from The Tin, as well as classic Brazilian fusion group Azymuth on Woodland Warrior. He has also performed with Joyce, Les Etoiles andBah Samba.
